Learning Needs Analysis & User Assessments

Corporate Training

I have conducted in-depth Learning Needs Analyses for corporate training that involved interviews, diagnostic surveys, and evaluations that rated the quality and effectiveness of content design and delivery, UX, and workflow practices in relation to the application of adult learning methodologies. This information was used to determine user personas, training needs, content design and development plans, and facilitation guidelines.

Higher Education
Using a customized rubric based on institutional needs, I have completed university reviews using one of two different approaches, a Sample Course Assessment, and a Full Semester Course Assessment.

A Sample Course Assessment is based on a selection of courses determined by overall evaluation scores of high, medium, and low from student course surveys to determine how online user workflow might influence ratings on student experiences.

A Full Semester Course Assessment evaluates online content and communication protocols for all faculty teaching fully online or hybrid courses in one semester. This is also based on the rubric criteria as determined by the institutional goals. While this has included hands-on reviews of up to 4000 courses, the benefits of a full semester course assessment are to:

  • Identify faculty who could act as leaders/mentors in online teaching and course development

  • Identify faculty who need additional support in online teaching and course development

  • Identify and inform on training topics and offering

  • Identify patterns that can help define institutional online teaching/facilitation guidelines

Deliverables of a Learning Needs Analysis could include:

  • Learning Needs Analysis & Recommendations

    • Presentation deck

    • Documentation

  • Course Design Kit & Style Guide

  • Media Plan

  • Project Plan & Timeline
